Komatsu Nana ♥ Hachi

Komatsu Nana, also known as Hachi, is one of the main characters for the name sake of the series NANA. I think Hachi is a lovely character. It's easy to relate to her. A lot fans of the series like Oosaki Nana better, some even dislike Hachi because they think she's too vain. I disagree totally. Hachi is really like any girl, except she is more vulnerable and naive. She fell in the love with "Love". She wants and likes to be loved, and she makes it clear that she will do anything for love.

Hachi is like a little girl who can never grow up who dreams of her prince charming and castle. Hachi has a very bubbly character. She is positive. In the series, she fell in so many difficult situations but she was able to turn them for the better. Though Yazawa Ai drew her difficulties in an almost comical way, it's rather horrifying to think about the things she's been through. Sleeping with old married man in her high school years, cheated by her first true love whom she abandoned everything to chase after, played by a man who thinks nothing of her, pregnant without knowing the true father of her child, married a player who probably doesn't even love her, separated from her friends and so on... And yet, she embraces life with a smile. It's possible that she's dense, but perhaps she really is trapped by her own mistakes.

All Hachi wanted is to have a perfect love. She tries very hard to find it, but she ends up taking the wrong steps. Even so, she never really just say, "okay, stop, I'm going to stop dreaming and face the reality." Maybe in a sense, she did face the reality by marrying. But I don't think she ever stopped dreaming. Hachi is a very inspiring character. She expresses her feelings and confusions. Because Hachi does not keep her feelings to herself, she is willing to share her courage with everyone. Hachi is a genuinely nice character that we can learn a lot from.
